Hyderabad: A few regular checkups can reduce the chances of having to replace or repair your air conditioner and its parts. A well-maintained air conditioner (AC) unit uses less energy, resulting in a faster cooling of the room. In addition, the machine will last longer and be less likely to break down.

As a result, the AC consumes less power and you will save money on your electricity bill. Whether you have a whole-house air conditioner or a single room air conditioner, it must undergo regular maintenance to keep it working well.

here are some tips

Keep an eye on the air filter: If an AC has a reusable filter, it is important to clean it once a month, especially during the summer season. Otherwise, the filter will get clogged with dust, dirt and allergen particles, reducing air flow.

Guard Air Conditioner Coil: The evaporator and condenser coils in an AC get dirty over time and need to be cleaned. Otherwise, it will reduce the air flow. Thus, making it difficult for the coils to absorb heat properly. So, access the air-conditioner coils and clean it at least once a month.

Debris removed: When the compressor is left outside for some time, dirt and other particles get accumulated on the outer cover of the air conditioner. All these particles affect the cooling capacity of the air conditioner as well as its air flow. So, check the outer outlet compressor cover of the AC unit and remove the unwanted part.

Clean the coil fins: The aluminum fins on the evaporator and condenser coils can easily get bent and restrict the flow of air inside. Therefore, it is imperative to inspect the coil fins and straighten them from the external component from time to time. When needed, the metal box must be opened and lifted to access the coil fins.

AC Unit: Most central air conditioners are equipped with outdoor and indoor units. The outdoor AC has a compressor or condenser while the indoor unit has an evaporator. To clean it, it is advisable to use a soft bristle brush to clean both types of AC units.

Grease the Drain Tube: When the drain tube in the AC gets clogged, water flows out of the furnace. Now you may ask what causes the blockage in the condensate drain tube? Air conditioning coils contain bacteria which clog the drain tube over time. There are pain tablets available in the market to remove the blockage in the condensate drain tube.

Inspect the wires and components: Before completing this step, you should turn off the power supply to the AC unit and then remove the access panel on the condensing unit. Look for signs of melted and burnt insulation wires. Make sure the electrical connections are in proper condition. If you have an electrical tester then use it to check the capacitors in the unit.
