There are several sources that they can easily identify to enter your home. Cockroaches, in particular, are attracted to the combination of hot and humid climates anywhere in the world. Cockroaches are attracted to your home for many reasons but attraction is only the first part. They have to actually be able to break into your home and cause havoc.
Here are five major reasons why they’re having a feast at your house.
excessive moisture
This is a commonly less known fact about this insect, cockroaches need moisture to survive. Usually leaky shower doors or windows are some of the most common things that attract this creature inside residential homes. If there is a source of excess moisture in your home, be sure to get rid of that spot quickly.

Cockroaches are in your home for two reasons, either they are looking for shelter or they want food. Dirty dishes in the sink or anywhere in your home with leftover food on them are exactly what cockroaches want to feast on.
Trash
Garbage is the biggest source of food for pests, so make sure you take out your trash consistently and dispose of it frequently. Also, be sure to keep your litter sealed so there are no access points for it to get inside.
Leftovers on the kitchen slab
Leaving crumbs on your kitchen floor or counter is another source of food that cockroaches will be attracted to. This means wiping down your counters frequently and vacuuming your floors frequently is your best option, you can also use disinfectant to clean the counters when you see crumbs on them.

We often overlook it, but leftover food from pets or small children is another major attraction for cockroaches. If you have a pet that leaves food unfinished for later, you’ll want to get a sealed bowl. Which will not only keep the food intact but will also not allow cockroaches to stay in the house for a long time.
